UNDER THE COPYRIGHT ACT the rights are given to author of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works and producers of cinematograph films and sound recordings. The rights granted under the Copyright Act are inter alia, rights of reproduction, communication to the public, adaptation and translation of the work. Copyright is the legal protection given to the author of an original literary or artistic work. It is the exclusive right granted by the law to author of such original work, to do, authorize, or prohibit certain acts in relation to such work. The Copyrights subsist in following class of works:

  1. Original literary, musical, dramatic and artistic works.
  2. Cinematograph films
  3. Sound recordings
