Patent

A PATENT is an exclusive monopoly granted by the Government to an inventor over his invention for a period of 20 years from the date of filing. It provides an enforceable legal right to prevent others from exploiting an invention. Invention as defined under the Act to mean a new product or process involving an inventive step and capable of industrial application. There are two types of Patents. The Process Patent and Product patent. Process patent covers a new process used in the production of a product and a Product Patent means a product which is invented is to be patented under the product patent.
